How might a partnership with UWS support the IB?

Extended Essay

The 'Extended Essay' is a compulsory part of the Diploma Programme consisting of a 4000 word piece of research and a concluding interview - the "viva voce". A partnership with UWS may support students who wish to focus on education and international development for their cross-curricular research and enquiry. UWS' work is multifaceted and as a school partner, your students will gain access to case studies and resources that may support their interdisciplinary study of an issue of contemporary global significance.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

'Theory of Knowledge' is a facet of the IB where pupils 'reflect on the nature of knowledge and how we know what we claim to know' (IB). Pupils write a 1,600 word essay and give an oral presentation. UWS' resources may provide opportunities to consider knowledge production in relation to international development and education.

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)

The final part of the core of the IB is Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). Fundraising for UWS could be used by students to help them fulfil the experiential learning outcomes, especially in taking on new challenges, considering ethical implications of action and considering global dimensions of their CAS activity.
